Manoug Parikian was a distinguished British concert violinist and pedagogue. Following his solo debut in 1947, he held prestigious leadership roles with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic (1947–1948) and the Philharmonia Orchestra (1949–1957). Later, he served as musical director for the Yorkshire Sinfonia (1976–1978) and the Manchester Camerata (1980–1984). A renowned champion of contemporary music, Parikian premiered numerous works dedicated to him by major composers. Notably, Benjamin Britten composed a cadenza for him to Mozart's "Adagio for Violin and Orchestra, K. 261" (1951). His discography includes Rawsthorne: Violin Concertos Nos. 1 & 2 (1968) and Goehr: Violin Concerto (1972). Parikian remained a prominent professor at the Royal Academy of Music until his death in 1987.
