Amestigon are an Austrian black metal band founded in 1993 by Tharen and Thurisaz. They released two cassette demos, Mysterious Realms and Through the Ages We Preserve..., in 1993. In 1996, Amestigon debuted with the split-album Mysterious Realms featuring Angizia on Napalm Records. Their first EP, Höllentanz, was released in 1997, but they disbanded shortly after due to personal issues and lineup problems. Tharen revived Amestigon in 1998 with new members including Herr Wolf, Lanz, and Michael "Silenius" Gregor. In 2000, they released the promo CD Remembering Ancient Origins. Their debut album, Sun of All Suns, was completed in 2009 and released in 2010 via Hau Ruck!. Amestigon's style evolved over time, incorporating atmospheric elements. Their later works showcased a darker sound with influences from doom and post-rock. Other releases included the split-album Fatal Illumination / Nebelung, 1384 (2002) and the album Thier (2015).
