Christof Dienz, born in 1968 in Innsbruck, Austria, is a musician and composer. After studying bassoon at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna, he graduated with distinction in 1999. In 1992, Dienz founded Die Knödel, an ensemble for which he composed music until its disbandment in 2000. From 1997 to 2000, he served as a bassoonist in the Vienna State Opera's orchestra. Dienz transitioned to freelance composition and musician in 2000, focusing on the zither. His album Dienz Zithered was released in 2005 and won the Ö1 Pasticcio-Preis award from the radio show Pasticcio. In 2006, he was nominated for the FM4 Award at the Amadeus Austrian Music Award. Dienz received the Förderpreis der Stadt Wien in 2007 and the Kunstpreis der Stadt Innsbruck in 2010, winning first prizes in both Instrumentalwerke and Vokalwerke categories.
