David Taylor Chastain is an American heavy metal and neoclassical metal guitarist, songwriter, and producer born on August 31, 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He began his musical activity in the early 1980s with the band Spike, releasing the album The Price of Pleasure in 1983. In 1984, Chastain formed the band Chastain, featuring vocalist Leather Leone, and the group CJSS. He established the independent label Leviathan Records in 1986. Chastain’s solo recording career began in 1987 with Instrumental Variations, followed by Within the Heat (1989) and Next Planet Please (1994). He later led projects such as Zanister and Southern Gentlemen, and released solo albums including Countdown to Infinity (2007) and Civilized Warfare (2011). Through Leviathan Records and Diginet Music, Chastain produces rare recordings and promotes new talent. His videography features “For Those Who Dare” and “Bullet From A Gun”.
