Chaos UK formed in 1979 in Portishead, near Bristol, by vocalist Simon Greenham (member until 1983), guitarist Andy Farrier, bassist Chaos (Adrian Rice), and drummer Spot (Richard Potts). Their 1982 EPs Burning Britain and Loud Political and Uncompromising reached number 8 and number 27 on the UK Indie Charts, establishing their hardcore reputation. The debut album Chaos UK (1983) was followed by Short Sharp Shock (1984) and the 1986 split Radio Active Enslaughter with Extreme Noise Terror. In 1989 they released The Chipping Sodbury Bonfire Tapes, and 1991’s Live in Japan documented their international touring. Later albums included Floggin' the Corpse (1996), King for a Day (1996), Morning After the Night Before (1997), and Heard It, Seen It, Done It (1998). The band continued touring until Simon Greenham’s death on 28 February 2025. Member since 1983, guitarist and singer Gabba died in March 2026.
