Solar Bears were an electronic music duo from Ireland, composed of John Kowalski and Rian Trench. Hailing from Dublin and Wicklow, the band took their name from Andrei Tarkovsky's film Solaris. Their initial release was a vinyl-only EP titled Inner Sunshine, which marked their entry into the electronic music scene in 2010. Later that year, they issued their debut full-length album, She Was Coloured In. The duo continued to produce notable works such as Supermigration (2013) and Advancement (2016), released under Planet Mu and Sunday Best Recordings, respectively. In October 2016, Solar Bears announced their breakup via a statement to electronic music site Thump.
