Albrecht Maurer, born on November 29, 1959, in Aachen, Germany, is a violinist and composer. He studied violin at the Musikhochschule Köln and participated in workshops led by Johannes Fritsch and Klarenz Barlow. In 1986, Maurer was active as a keyboarder, singer, and violinist with the Cologne Jazzband Heinz before forming the Duo Directors with Thomas Witzmann. Concurrently, he was part of Norbert Stein's Pata Orchestra. He has performed with various ensembles, including the Parisian Ensemble Dialogos since 2005. Maurer has collaborated extensively with notable musicians such as Theo Jörgensmann and Carla Bley. In 2014, his album Loplop's Call (2013), recorded with Norbert Rodenkirchen, was nominated for the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. He co-founded the label Nemu-records with Klaus Kugel.
