Gerald Emeka Pine, known professionally as Geraldo Pino, was a Sierra Leonean musician born in 1939. Pino founded the group The Heartbeats in 1961, and their debut recordings include the single “Maria Lef for Waka” (1963), released through the Pino Records label. The ensemble’s performances influenced musicians including Fela Kuti. In 1969, Pino moved to Nigeria and performed with artists such as Manu Dibango, Jimmy Cliff, and Rufus Thomas. Their discography includes the albums Afro Soco Soul Live (1972), Let's Have a Party (1974), and Boogie Fever (1978). In 2005, the compilation Heavy Heavy Heavy was released. Pino died in Nigeria in 2008.
