Formed in the mid-1970s in Boston, Massachusetts, World’s Experience Orchestra was a spiritual jazz group led by bassist, composer, and arranger John Jamyll Jones. During their short lifespan, the group also included Chauncy Hutcherson, Shaddu Jones, Donald Hasaan, Michael Cosmic, Earl Grant Lawrence, Haquib Ishma'il Hasaan, Khalid Farug, Musra, and Robert Ruff. The group’s debut album, The Beginning of a New Birth (1975), was recorded in a church basement. Their second album, As Time Flows On, was released in 1980. The group quietly split up some time later. Both albums were private pressings in small quantities, so their albums became collectable over time. In the 1990s, there was a resurgence of interest in spiritual jazz and the music of World’s Experience Orchestra. Eventually, both albums were reissued to great acclaim.
