The Thrashing Doves originated in England in 1986, formed by Ken Foreman on vocals and guitar, Brian Foreman on keyboards, Ian Button on guitar, and Kevin Sargent on drums, with Hari Sajjan as the original bassist. The group first attracted attention with the singles "Matchstick Flotilla" and "Biba's Basement" in 1986, followed by "Beautiful Imbalance" in 1987, which reached Number 50 on the UK Singles Chart. Their debut album, Bedrock Vice, was released in 1987 under A&M Records, establishing their presence in the rock scene. In 1988, the band supported Duran Duran on tour, expanding their audience. The second album, Trouble In The Home, arrived in 1989 and produced the U.S. Modern Rock hit "Angel Visit" at Number 14. A subsequent shift in name to The Doves accompanied the third album, Affinity, released in 1991 by Elektra; the single "I Wouldn't Know You from the Rest" followed. After 1992’s "Beaten Up In Love Again", the group disbanded, and members pursued production, composition, and other musical projects. The Thrashing Doves remain noted for their early contribution to late‑1980s rock and their association with influential remixers such as Bruce Forest and DJ Paul Oakenfold.
