The One & Nines, a rhythm and blues band from Jersey City, New Jersey, formed in 2007. Named after U.S. Route 1/9, the group initially featured vocalist Vera Sousa and guitarist Jeff Marino. The band's music blended vintage R&B and Stax-Volt soul. Their debut release was the seven-track EP The One & Nines, published on January 6, 2009, with Mint 400 Records. On October 25, 2011, they released the singles "Tell Me" and "Make It Easy" on 7"-vinyl with Cotter Records and digitally with Mint 400 Records. The One & Nines contributed to several tribute albums, including Mint 400 Records Presents a Very Merry Christmas Compilation (2012), 1967 (2015), and Mint 400 Records Presents Patchwork (2014).
