Joseph L. "Big Joe" Duskin was born on February 10, 1921, in Birmingham, Alabama, and began playing piano at age seven. He started his musical journey accompanying his father, Rev. Perry Duskin, in church. By the early 1970s, after a hiatus from performing, Duskin resumed his career by playing at festivals across the U.S. and Europe. His debut album, Cincinnati Stomp, was released in 1978 on Arhoolie Records, featuring notable tracks such as "Down the Road a Piece" and collaborations with Jimmy Johnson and Bob Margolin. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Duskin toured extensively in Europe and performed at major festivals like the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and the Chicago Blues Festival. His album, Big Joe Jumps Again!, was released in 2004 on Yellow Dog Records. He passed away on May 6, 2007.
