Sneaky Bat Machine, a UK-based cybergoth band from Bristol, was formed in 1997 by Sneakybat (Ross Tregenza), Crash (Clive Lewis), and Maxislag (Maxi). The group gained initial traction with their unique blend of cartoon gothic imagery and electropop music. Their first commercial release was the single "Boneshaker" on Darkbeat Records in 1998, followed by their debut album Disco 4 the Dead in 1999. Maxislag left the band to join Katscan and was replaced by Doktor A (Bruce Attley). The band's music often featured outlandish themes such as grave-robbing and fighting space invaders. In 2000, the band changed their name to Goteki and transitioned into a 'lo-fi phuturists' style, releasing several albums before disbanding in 2006.
