Roseanna Elizabeth Vitro, born 28 February 1951 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, is an American jazz vocalist whose early exposure to gospel, rock, and classical music shaped her eclectic style. After moving to Houston in the 1970s, she entered the jazz scene under Ray Sullenger, performing with Arnett Cobb and hosting a KUHF‑FM radio show. In 1978, she relocated to New York City, studying at the Manhattan School of Music and collaborating with Kenny Werner and Fred Hersch. Her recording career began with Listen Here (1984) and progressed through albums such as Softly (1993), Tropical Postcards (2004), and The Music of Randy Newman (2011), the latter earning a 2012 Grammy nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Album. Her work featured collaborations with Kenny Barron, Christian McBride, and David “Fathead” Newman, and she taught vocal jazz at SUNY Purchase and New Jersey City University, retiring in 2017.
