American early rockabilly singer Dorsey William Burnett Jr. aka Dorsey Burnette was born on 28 December 1932 in Memphis, Tennessee. He began his music career with his younger brother Johnny Burnette and a friend named Paul Burlison as founding members of The Rock and Roll Trio. He played bass and contributed to the group's initial success, which included winning Ted Mack's The Original Amateur Hour on three consecutive occasions in 1956. This led to a recording contract with Coral Records and appearances on notable shows such as Dick Clark's American Bandstand, Steve Allen's Tonight Show, and Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall. Despite these opportunities, the trio failed to achieve national chart success and disbanded in 1957 after internal conflicts. Dorsey Burnette then moved to California, where he continued his music career with solo releases such as "Let's Fall in Love" and "Jungle Magic". He later reunited briefly with Johnny Burnette and Paul Burlison, but ultimately pursued a solo path. Dorsey William Burnett Jr. passed away on 19 August 1979.
