Lauren MacColl, a British violinist from Fortrose, Scotland, began her musical journey as a fiddle player. She gained early recognition by winning the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award in 2004. Her debut solo album, When Leaves Fall, was released in 2007. She collaborated with flute player Calum Stewart on the duet album Wooden Flute & Fiddle, released in 2012. MacColl is also a member of the fiddle quartet RANT and the contemporary folk band Salt House. Her subsequent solo albums include Strewn With Ribbons (2009), The Seer (2017), Landskein (2020), and Haar (2023). She was awarded Instrumentalist of the Year at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards in 2009.
