Los Golden Boys, a Colombian tropical music orchestra, was founded in 1961 in Medellín. The group was established by brothers Guillermo and Pedro Jairo Garcés, who were instrumental in shaping its early sound. The band gained recognition in Venezuela during the 1960s, performing alongside notable acts like Los Melódicos and La Billo’s Caracas. In 1972, following Pedro Jairo Garcés' tragic death, the group relocated to Bogotá. After a hiatus, they returned to recording in 1980 with Discos Fuentes, featuring new members including Javier Valencia on vocals. The band achieved significant success with "Pirulino", which became the theme song for the telenovela Pedro el escamoso in 2001, leading to extensive national and international tours. Guillermo Garcés, the last of the founding members, passed away in 2000.
