Francisco Hernández Mora, known as Pancho Quinto, and born on April 23, 1933, in Belén, Havana, Cuba. was a rumba percussionist and teacher. He began his musical journey at age 12 when he joined the comparsa Los Dandys and later learned batá drumming from masters Pablo Roche and Jesús Pérez. In the mid-1950s, Quinto played with various groups including Los Componedores de Batea and briefly with La Sonora Matancera. He co-founded Guaguancó Marítimo Portuario in 1961, which evolved into Yoruba Andabo in 1981. This group gained international attention through collaborations, notably with Jane Bunnett on Spirits of Havana (1993). Quinto's solo career began in the late 1990s with the release of En el solar la cueva del humo (1997) and continued with Rumba sin fronteras (2003). He also contributed to Caravana Cubana’s Del alma (2002). Pancho Quinto passed away on February 11, 2005.
