Origin Unknown were an influential English drum and bass duo formed in the early 1990s, comprising producers Andy C and Ant Miles. They are best known for their 1993 track "Valley of the Shadows," which became a seminal piece in the drum'n'bass genre. The duo's breakthrough came with "Valley of the Shadows," initially released as the B-side to "The Touch" in 1993 on RAM Records. The track gained significant popularity upon its re-release as a standalone single in 1996, solidifying its status as a classic in the drum'n'bass scene. In 2002, the re-release of their 1995 song "Truly One" cracked the UK Singles and UK Dance singles charts. Beyond their own productions, Origin Unknown played a pivotal role in shaping the drum'n'bass landscape through their work with RAM Records while Andy C went on to become one of the most respected producers in the game. They later formed Ram Trilogy with fellow producer Shimon, further influencing the genre's evolution. Origin Unknown's legacy endures, with their tracks remaining staples in drum and bass playlists and continuing to inspire new generations of artists and fans.
