Argentinian instrumental contemporary music.
Having been a consolidated group since the beginning of 2015, Rizoma has a repertoire of original compositions rooted in jazz and contemporary music. In 2019, the group released their debut homonymous album, selected April’s album by El Club del Disco in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The name of the group and the album summarize a strong working methodology, a model which is permanently productive and experimental. A simple definition points out that a rhizome (English for ‘rizoma’) is a type of stem growing under the ground and having remarkable features: it always grows horizontally in an indefinite way. Thus, each song departs from a main idea which never comes to an end; on the contrary, it continuously expands, fed and complemented by the musical experiences of each member. Melodies mutate (they are alive, just like a rhizome) with each piece, experience, interpretation: as they enrich, so do the project and its members.
