Genesis Israeli Rose Schmitz Briggs Be, known professionally as Genesis Be, was born on December 5 in the United States and is an American musician specializing in alternative hip hop. She began her musical journey with the release of several singles, including "More Than A Warrior" (2005) and "I Don't Discriminate" (2007). Her debut album, 17 In America, was released in 2005, followed by 18 In America and 19 In America in subsequent years. Be's breakthrough came with the release of her fourth studio album, Mississippi To Manhattan, on April 8, 2011. This album included notable tracks such as "Like A Movie" and "At A Standstill." Her next major release was Genesequa in January 2014. Be is also known for her advocacy work, particularly her efforts to remove the Confederate emblem from the Mississippi state flag, which gained significant media attention, including coverage by The Associated Press and Billboard.
