Heavy Pettin, a Scottish heavy metal band from Glasgow, was formed in 1981 by drummer Gary Moat, guitarist Gordon Bonnar, and bassist Brian Waugh. Vocalist Stevie Hayman and guitarist Punky Mendoza joined shortly after. The band took its name from the UFO album No Heavy Petting. In 1982, they appeared on the Friday Rock Show, leading to the release of their debut single "Roll the Dice" with Neat Records. This success led to a signing with Polydor and the production of their debut album Lettin Loose (1983), which included notable tracks like "In and Out of Love", "Rock Me", and a re-recorded version of "Love Times Love". Heavy Pettin toured extensively from 1983 to 1985 with bands such as Saxon, Accept, Kiss, Ozzy Osbourne, Mötley Crüe, and AC/DC. Their second album, Rock Ain't Dead (1985), featured the single "Sole Survivor". Despite a change in musical direction and waning fan interest, Heavy Pettin continued to perform and released the single "Romeo" in 1987. The band disbanded in March 1988, with their third album Big Bang (1989) being released posthumously by FM Records. In 1998, the band reformed and toured across Europe, recording a new studio album Rock Generation, released in 2025.
