The American Plague, a rock band from Knoxville, Tennessee, was formed in 2001 by singer-guitarist James "Jaw" Alexander. The band's debut release, The American Plague EP, came out in 2001. Their first full-length album, God Bless the American Plague, was released in 2006 on labels including Dr. Cyclops Records and Long Live Crime. In 2008, they released their third full-length album, Heart Attack, produced by Ryan "Tater" Johnson of the band 10 Years. This was followed by a tour with 10 Years, Saving Abel, and Fair to Midland, as well as an appearance at Bonnaroo 2008. The band released the EP Kiss of Death in 2009. In 2011, they recorded a new song titled "Leviathan" with producers Mike Watts and Steve Haigler.
