Eri Kawai (河井英里), born 8 May 1965 in Tokyo, Japan, was a Japanese singer‑songwriter and arranger whose work spanned classical, pop and electronic genres. After studying composition at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, she entered the music scene with her debut single "Shalion" in 1993 In 1997 she released the mini‑album Ao ni Sasageru on AEL Records, later reissued by Earthrise Records in 2002. Her first full‑length album, Prayer, appeared in 2001 under Universal Music as the project Erie, and the track "Kisuturina" from that album was selected for the 2002 Winter Olympics broadcast. Eri Kawai’s career was marked by consistent participation in anime music circles and a dedicated fan base, until her death from liver cancer on 4 August 2008, after which her legacy continued through the release of posthumous albums such as Kaze no Michi and Himawari (2008) posthumously, honoring her memory, followed by the 2009 compilation Oriental Green. She contributed vocals to numerous anime soundtracks, including Aria The Animation and Utawarerumono, and collaborated with labels like Lantis and Frontier Works.
