Rafael Berrio, born on October 24, 1963 in San Sebastián, Spain, was a Spanish singer-songwriter. He learned to play guitar from his father and formed his first group in 1971. In the 1980s, Berrio released his first EP with Shanti Records. His breakthrough came in 2010 with the album 1971, which featured the hit song "Simulacro" and was released by Warner Music Spain. Throughout his career, Rafael Berrio collaborated with notable artists such as La Oreja de Van Gogh and Mikel Erentxun. He also ventured into film, appearing in Jonás Trueba's La reconquista (2016). His final album, El niño futuro, was released in 2019. Berrio passed away on March 31, 2020, due to lung cancer.
