Geraint Jarman (17 August 1950 – 2 March 2025) was a Welsh folk, post punk, reggae, rock, and ska musician, poet, and television producer from Denbigh. Described by the BBC as the "father of Welsh rock," Jarman began his career in the 1960s as a composer for Heather Jones. He was a member of the group Y Bara Menyn before recording as a solo artist and with his band, Geraint Jarman a'r Cynganeddwyr. Jarman’s discography featured the albums Gobaith Mawr y Ganrif (1976), Tacsi i'r Tywyllwch (1977), and Brecwast Astronot (2011). He wrote the song “Y Brawd Houdini” for Meic Stevens. Jarman was a television producer for the S4C series Fideo 9 and provided the voice for the original Welsh version of SuperTed. He published several poetry collections, including Cerbyd Cydwybod (2012), and the autobiography Twrw Jarman (2011). Jarman died in Cardiff.
