Christoph Möckel, born in 1986 in Schwerin, Germany, is a saxophonist and clarinetist from a musical family. Möckel attended a music high school and studied saxophone at the Cologne University of Music from 2006 to 2011. His early career included performances with the European Jazz Orchestra in 2012 and the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra. Möckel's debut album Dreamlike (2014) was recorded in February 2013 with his own quartet. He has collaborated extensively, including with the Offshore Quintet on three albums, and formed Ebene Null. In 2019, Möckel moved in Berlin and acquired a teaching position for saxophone at the Rostock University of Music and Theatre. His awards include prizes from Jugend Jazzt and Jugend Musiziert, as well as the Convento Jazz Prize North-Rhine Westphalia in 2010 and 2011.
