Flying Steps, a German dance group specializing in breakdance, popping, and locking, was founded in 1993 by Kadir Memiş and Vartan Bassil in Berlin. The group initially gained recognition through their participation in various dance competitions, including winning the International Battle of the Year in Celle in 1994 and the National Battle of the Year in Hannover in 1995 and 1997. Their breakthrough moment came when they appeared in the music videos for "Supersonic" and "Get Freaky" by Music Instructor, leading them to release their own material under the Flying Steps name. Flying Steps released several singles, including "Super Sonic" (1998), "Get Freaky" (1998), and "We Are Electric" (2000). Their first full-length album, B-Town, was released in 2001. The group continued to release notable singles such as "We Gonna Rock It" (2001) and "Operator" (2007). In addition to their music releases, Flying Steps presented the dance performance Red Bull Flying Bach in 2010, which combined breakdance and contemporary dance with the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. This production earned them the Klassik-Sonderpreis des Echo award. The group has also been recognised for their contributions to urban dance, winning multiple awards including the Hiphop.de Award for Best Breakdance Crew in 2008 and 2010.
