Stephanie Bennett, born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is an American harpist, composer, arranger, and vocalist. Bennett studied classical harp at the University of Michigan with Ruth Dean Clark and composition with Leslie Bassett and Ross Lee Finney. In 1979, Bennett won first prize in the Second Salvi International Competition of Jazz and Pop Harp. Her career includes a 1984 tour with The New Christy Minstrels and R&B artist Bobby Womack. Bennett gave a solo performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1989. As a session musician, she contributed to Paul McCartney’s Chaos and Creation in the Backyard and LeAnn Rimes’ Twisted Angel. Bennett’s compositions have appeared in the television series Bones, Murphy Brown, and Party of Five. Her discography includes the albums Finger Magic (released as Stephanie Pelz), Unicorn’s Journey (2004), and Sacred Oaks (2012) with the Bards of FoDLA.
