Kim Pensyl is an American keyboardist and pianist known for his contributions to jazz music. He attended Ohio State University and California State University, Northridge. His early career included working with notable bands featuring artists such as Al Hirt, Don Ellis, Hubert Laws, Gerald Wilson, and Guy Lombardo. Pensyl's debut album, Pensyl Sketches #1, was released in 1988. Throughout the 1990s, he released several albums, including 3 Day Weekend (1992), and Eyes of Wonder (1993). He has collaborated with artists such as Toots Thielemans, Joey Calderazzo, Bob Mintzer, Chieli Minucci, Andy Narell, Will Kennedy, Steve Rodby, and Alex Acuna. Pensyl's work has been recognized with two Billboard Top 20 Contemporary Jazz Artists of the Year awards, and he has had four Top 10 albums on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz chart. He is currently the Division Head for General Studies and Program Director for Commercial Music Production at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.
