Joris Teepe, born in 1962 in the Netherlands, is a Dutch jazz bassist, composer, arranger, and big-band leader. He studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam before moving to New York City in 1992. His first album as a leader, Pay as You Earn, was released in 1994 with Don Braden as co-leader. Teepe's subsequent albums include Bottom Line (1996), Jazz in Jazz Out (2002), and Going Dutch (2004). He has collaborated with notable musicians such as Randy Brecker, Chris Potter, and was a long-time member of the Rashied Ali Band. Teepe's work extends beyond his own projects; he has arranged music for larger ensembles and symphonic orchestras, including compositions by Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, and John Coltrane.
