Kōichi Yamadera, born on June 17, 1961, in Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, was a versatile Japanese voice actor, actor, and radio personality. He studied economics at Tōhoku Gakuin University before transitioning into the entertainment industry. Initially known as Bazooka Yamadera, he gained recognition for his roles in various anime series and films, including Ninja Scroll as Jūbei Kibagami, Cowboy Bebop as Spike Spiegel, and Ghost in the Shell as Togusa. His extensive work also includes voice acting for prominent characters such as Sheriff Woody in Toy Story, Donald Duck in Beauty and the Beast, Beast in Aladdin. Yamadera's career spanned multiple genres and roles, often playing characters with a wide range of emotions and personalities. He was awarded the Kei Tomiyama Award at the third Seiyu Awards for his contributions to anime voice acting. Throughout his career, he also lent his voice to various live-action films, including roles originally voiced by Will Smith, Jim Carrey, and Eddie Murphy in their Japanese versions.
