Heavens Gate was a German heavy metal band from Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony, Germany, formed in 1982 under the name Steeltower. The group released a first album, Night of the Dog (1984), before recording a demo that led to a contract with Warner Chappell and Edition Metromania. In 1987, their lineup changed their name to Heavens Gate and signed with No Remorse Records. Their debut studio album under this new name, In Control (1989), reached number 10 in the Japanese import charts. Heavens Gate released notable albums such as Livin' in Hysteria (1991), which sold over 40,000 copies in Japan, and Hell for Sale! (1992). Heavens Gate officially disbanded in 1999 but released the compilation album Best for Sale! (2015) years later. Other notable releases include the albums Planet E. (1996) and Menergy (1999).
