Elji, whose real name is Nicolas Louis Joseph Dogue, is a singer from Martinique, originally from the Fort-de-France neighborhood of Montgérald. He made a name for himself thanks to his key role in the development of the "Shatta" movement in the West Indies, based on reggae-dancehall. He drew inspiration from Jamaican artists such as Sizzla and Capleton, while incorporating influences such as rap, French variété and Afrobeat. Quickly spotted thanks to the sound system scene, he made a name for himself with his Fake Mixtape album in 2016, but made a name for himself with the tracks released in 2022"Ki moun ki pli shatta" and"Ek c tou" in collaboration with Shaydee's and Mikado. He also released an autobiographical documentary illustrating his time in prison, then multiplied his releases and collaborations, notably with artists from the Caribbean scene such as Gold Up and Priscillia.
