Roger Humphries (born January 30, 1944) is an American jazz drummer and educator from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Humphries began playing drums at age four and became a professional musician at age 14. In 1960, Humphries led an ensemble at Carnegie Hall at age 16. Humphries joined Stanley Turrentine’s trio in 1962 before joining Horace Silver in 1964. During this tenure, Humphries performed on the album Song for My Father and at the Monterey Jazz Festival. Humphries toured with Ray Charles, appearing at the Newport Jazz Festival. Collaborations included Lee Morgan, Grant Green, Dizzy Gillespie, and Coleman Hawkins. In 1972, Humphries formed the group R.H. Factor, releasing the albums This 'n' That (1993) and Keep the Faith (2011). Humphries also released the big band recording Don’t Give Up in 2003. From 1980 to 2010, Humphries taught at the Pittsburgh High School for the Creative and Performing Arts.
