Umay Gedikoğlu, known professionally as Umay Umay, was born on May 22, 1966, in Trabzon, Turkey. She is a singer and poet who began her music career as a member of the group Leprechaun. She later embarked on a solo career, releasing her self-titled debut album in 1994. This album marked her breakthrough moment, featuring notable tracks such as "Hareket Vakti" with background vocals by Şebnem Ferah. Following this success, she released two more albums: Naylon in 1996 and Ağzı Bozuk Aşk Mektubu in 2002. Throughout her career, Umay Umay has collaborated with various artists, including Cem Adrian on the single "Bir Şarkı Tut" in 2014. In addition to her musical endeavors, she is also a published poet, with works such as Rüya Duvarları and Sokaklar sustu artık öpüşebiliriz.
