Karen Ramirez, born on 21 November 1971 in North London, is a British singer known for her contributions to dance and electronic music. At the age of six, Ramirez moved to Trinidad and Tobago before returning to London to pursue higher education. Her breakthrough came in 1998 with the release of her cover version of Everything but the Girl's "I Didn't Know I Was Looking for Love", retitled "Looking for Love". This single reached Number 1 on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart and number 8 on the UK Singles Chart, marking a significant milestone in her career. Following this success, Ramirez released her debut album Distant Dreams on 20 July 1998 under Manifesto. The album included notable tracks such as "Troubled Girl" and featured remixes by Boris Dlugosch & Michael Lange. Distant Dreams was later re-released in Japan with additional tracks, including two versions of "Troubled Girl", the Spanish version and the elusive club mix, and a cover of "Fever". In May 2006, she self-released her second studio album, Bees in the Trees, exclusively on iTunes. Additionally, a remix album titled Remixed Dreams was released in Japan only on 13 January 1999.
