Raised in a home where church hymns and spicy Indian narratives blended, JBZ's musical journey reflects the influence of his father, the lively 'Reverend o ni jo.' This dancing pastor not only fueled JBZ's love for music but also added a touch of Punjabi, Yoruba, and English flavor to his latest groove, the "Karma Sutra" EP.
JBZ's early days were a mix of music and performance, with his dad pushing him to master the piano, guitar, flute, and African drums. At just 10 years old, JBZ hit the Royal Albert Hall, setting the stage for a musical journey that now resonates with the rhythmic legacy left by his international drummer brother.
On November 15th, tragedy struck as JBZ's father passed away. This loss sparked the creation of "CNC," a remix of his dad's favorite Nigerian classic, KWAM 1. Although his father couldn't hear the final version, JBZ dedicated the "Karma Sutra" EP and his viral content series to his late pops, Paul Edet Baba Seun Joseph.
Earlier hits like "RICE" showcased JBZ's savvy strategy, racking up 500k video streams and 200k Spotify plays, courtesy of some South African dance vibes. The success landed him gigs at Afroplay Festival and AfroPiano Festival, with the Amapiano remix "RICE M TOUCH REMIX" hitting over 100 Shazams.
