Roberto Fabbriciani was born on June 13, 1949, in Arezzo, Italy, and is a flutist and composer. He began his musical studies in 1957 under Mario Gordigiani. By 1964, Fabbriciani studied with Severino Gazzelloni and later became his assistant at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. In the early 1970s, he collaborated with avant-garde composers such as Bruno Maderna, Luigi Nono, and Salvatore Sciarrino. His career as a soloist included performances with notable conductors like Claudio Abbado and Riccardo Muti, and orchestras including the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the London Sinfonietta. Fabbriciani premiered several works dedicated to him, notably Aldo Clementi’s "Fantasia su roBErto FABbriCiAni" (1980). His innovative use of electronics led to collaborations with Luigi Nono on pieces like "Prometeo. Tragedia dell'ascolto" (1984) and his development of the hyperbass flute, an instrument reaching the subcontraoctave register.
