Nothin' Fancy is an American bluegrass ensemble formed in September 1994 in Buena Vista, Virginia. The group was established by Mike Andes and Mitchell Davis following their participation in the East Coast Bluegrass Band. The ensemble released its debut project, Bluegrass in a Plain Brown Wrapper, in 1997. After signing with Pinecastle Records in 2002, the band released the studio recording Once Upon a Road. The album reached number 10 on the Bluegrass Unlimited charts. The group’s recording “When the Angels Take My Hand” reached the Number 1 position on the bluegrass gospel charts. The ensemble received the Entertaining Group of the Year award from the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Davis departed the group in 2019 and was replaced by Jacob Flick.
