Shehzad Roy is a Pakistani singer-songwriter and humanitarian born on February 16, 1977, in Karachi. He began his music career in 1995 with the release of his debut album, Zindagi. Over the next decade, Roy released several albums including Darshan in 1997, Teri Soorat in 1999, Rab Janey in 2002, and Buri Baat Hai in 2005. In 2002, he established the Zindagi Trust, a charitable organization focused on improving public education in Pakistan. For his public service, he received the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz in 2005 and the Sitara-i-Eisaar in 2006. His 2008 album, Qismat Apne Haath Mein, marked a transition to socio-political themes with songs like “Laga Reh”. Roy produced the documentary series Wasu aur Mein in 2012 and Chal Parha in 2013. In 2017, he was appointed a National Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations and received the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2018.
