J. Roddy Walston & the Business was an American rock band formed in 2002 in Cleveland, Tennessee by J. Roddy Walston on vocals/piano/guitar. Their early breakthrough came after winning a showcase at a national festival with a demo tape recorded in Walston's basement. In 2004, the band released their first EP Here Come Trouble and relocated to Baltimore. The band gained attention for their energetic live performances and Walston's distinctive piano style. Their first full-length album Hail Mega Boys was released in 2007, featuring notable tracks like "Rock n' Roll II" and "Sally Bangs". In 2010, they signed with Vagrant Records and released their second album J Roddy Walston & the Business, which included the lead single "Don't Break the Needle". This period saw them touring extensively. In 2013, they signed with ATO Records and released their third album Essential Tremors. The band disbanded in 2019.
