Amaury Pérez Vidal, born on December 26, 1953, in Vedado, Havana, Cuba, is a Cuban singer and composer. He taught himself to play the guitar in 1968 and composed his first songs inspired by Enrique Núñez Diaz. In 1972, Pérez Vidal co-founded the Movimiento de la Nueva Trova Cubana with Silvio Rodríguez, Pablo Milanés, Sara González, and Noel Nicola. In 1979, he released "No lo van a impedir", followed by Mitades and Abecedario, both in 1985. In 1995, he notably recorded "El escaramujo" with UNICEF support, featuring prominent artists like Luis Eduardo Aute and Vicente Feliú. Pérez Vidal received the Order Félix Varela, Cuba's highest cultural distinction, on December 31, 2003.
