Ben, whose real name is Bernhard Albrecht Matthias Lasse Blümel, was born in Berlin on May 15, 1981. He is a German pop singer, television presenter and actor. After training in singing, dancing and acting, he celebrated his breakthrough in 2002 with the single "Engel", a duet with the singer Gim. The song reached number 2 in the German singles charts. In the following years, Ben released several singles, including "Manchmal" (2005) and, together with Kate Hall, "Bedingungslos", "Du bist wie Musik", "Zwei Herzen" and "Ich lieb dich immer noch so sehr" (all 2007). The song "Du bist wie Musik" serves as the German theme tune for the film High School Musical 2. Parallel to his music career, Ben also works as a presenter, including for The Dome, Toggo Music, Bravo TV and, since 2009, KiKA LIVE. As an actor, he has appeared in productions such as Der weiße Planet (2006) and Sunshine Barry und die Discowürmer (2008). In 2010 he appears in the Sat.1 soap Eine wie keine. In 2020, he took part in the third season of The Masked Singer as "Anubis" and came fourth. On March 27, 2024, he plays the role of Jesus in the RTL production Die Passion. Ben is socially committed, including for the initiative Gesicht Zeigen! Für ein weltoffenes Deutschland, to which he dedicates the song "Ich steh' auf".
