Rainbow is a South Korean all-girl idol group assembled by entertainment company DSP Media in 2009. Consisting of Woori, Seungah, Jaekyung, Noeul, Yoonhye, Jisook, and Hyunyoung, the seven-piece made its official recording with the mini-album Gossip Girl (2009), which climbed to Number 2 on the Gaon charts. In 2010, Rainbow scored their first Top 10 single with “A,” included in their second extended-play So Girls (2011), as well as in their Japanese studio debut, Over the Rainbow (2012). The Japanese version of “A” entered the Top 10 of the Oricon charts, peaking at Number 3. In 2012, the group announced the creation of their first subunit, Rainbow Pixie. Their first studio full-length, Rainbow Syndrome, was released in two parts over the course of 2013 and was followed by the creation of Rainbow Blaxx, Rainbow's second subunit. Despite their ever-growing fame, Rainbow disbanded shortly after the release of their fourth EP Prism in 2016 due to the termination of their contracts. Subsequently, all seven original members reunited once again in 2019 to celebrate the group’s tenth anniversary.
