Eiko Shimamiya, born on April 20, 1965, in Japan, is a singer-songwriter and producer. Before her debut, she dedicated herself to teaching singing. In 1999, Eiko Shimamiya joined I’ve Sound, contributing to their first album Regret with the track “Last regrets X-mas floor style”. She released three extended plays before her solo debut in 2005 with the mini LP Ulysses. In October 2005, she performed at Budokan with other I’ve Sound members. Her breakthrough came in 2006 when she sang “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni”, the opening theme for the anime series of the same name, which debuted at number 18 on the Oricon chart. She continued to contribute themes for subsequent seasons and films of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. In 2009, she performed at Budokan again for I’ve Sound’s tenth anniversary concert. Eiko Shimamiya announced her departure from I’ve Sound in 2011 to pursue a solo career. She released her first mini-album Perfect World in April 2010 and continued to release music under various labels, including Aquarius+ in 2021.
