Lucy Ann Polk was an American jazz singer born Lucy on May 16, 1928, in Sandpoint, Idaho. She started her professional singing career at age nine on KHQ radio in Spokane and performed with her siblings in the quartet the Four Polks, later renamed the Town Criers. They worked with big bands led by Les Brown, Lionel Hampton, and Kay Kyser until 1948. Polk became the lead vocalist for the Les Brown Orchestra and was named Best Girl Singer with Band by Down Beat magazine from 1952 to 1954. Her solo career began with the album Lucy Ann Polk with the Dave Pell Octet (Trend, 1954), followed by Lucky Lucy Ann (Mode, 1957). She ended her career in 1960 and passed away on October 10, 2011.
