The Finnish pop singer-songwriter known mononymously as Mirella was born Mirella Roininen on 8 May 2005 in Vantaa. Her first major break came in 2020 when she won the coveted Melodi Grand Prix in her home country, singing "Landet ingenstans." As the daughter of Finnish musician Tero Roininen, co-founder of hip-hop collective GG Caravan, she grew up surrounded by music, singing and dancing for fun before setting her sights on a professional music career. The success of her performance on the aforementioned Melodi Grand Prix helped to pave the way for a signing with Universal Music. Her first major-label single, "Sua sattuu," arrived in October 2023 and was certified gold within two months, showcasing her rapid ascent, which was then honoured with a chart-topping follow-up, "Timanttei," in January 2024. She kept up the momentum on her third single "Uuuteen eiliene," which also topped the Finnish singles chart in March 2024. Her third single ”Luotathan," a collaboration with Lauri Haav, brought her another number-one single a few months later.
