The German boy band Overground formed on the 2003 televised talent show Popstars – Das Duell, in which two different pop groups competed against each other. Consisting of singers Akay Kayed, Ken Miyao, Marq Porciuncula, Meiko Reißmann, and Fabrizio Levita, the group made its debut with a remake of Color Me Badd’s “I Wanna Sex You Up” and won the show’s finale after beating their female counterparts Preluders in the popular vote. Their studio debut It’s Done saw the light later that year and shot straight to the top of the charts in Germany and Switzerland thanks to the chart-topping single “Schick mir 'nen Engel.” Following the release of the Top 10 singles “Der letzte Stern” and “Aus und vorbei,” Overground delivered their sophomore effort 2. OG (2004), which also featured Montell Jordan on a new version of his 1995 debut single “This Is How We Do It.” However, the album didn’t perform as expected and the group was dropped by Cheyenne shortly after its release. They would return once again in 2005 with the single “Hass mich” before definitively disbanding in 2008.
