Patsy Torres, born Patricia Donita Torres in 1957 in San Antonio, Texas, was an American Tejano music singer and songwriter. She started as a trumpet player with Blue Harmony and formed the Patsy Torres Band in 1982. Her single "Lowrider"/"Novela" (1984) helped establish her within Tejano music. Despite obtaining a science degree, Torres continued her musical career following interest from Freddie Records and a promotional contract with Budweiser. Her ranchera single "Ya Me Voy de Esta Tierra" became her first Number 1 hit in 1986. Torres won the Tejano Music Award for Female Entertainer of the Year in 1987 and was named by Billboard magazine as the top female Tejano singer of 1989. She signed with WEA Latina in 1990 and became a leading figure in Tejano music. Torres won the Songwriter Award at the BMI Latin Awards in 1996. Her later recordings include the albums Saved at Last (2012) and Dame Tu Corazon (2020), as well as the 2022 tribute single "Dedicada a Ti".
